Princess Fairy Tale Wedding

For the princess in you!

For the princess in you!

Much have been said about brides who want to have a fairy tale wedding.  Some say that since more and more women are getting married later in life, this fantasy is no longer held by these women.  Is the dream of a once in a lifetime chance to feel like a real princess disappear at a certain age? I should hope not.  A fairy tale wedding can be romantic, whimsical, and creative.   Last year, Disney tapped into this dream and came out with bridal gowns designed by Kristie Kelly using the Disney princesses as inspiration.  Having a fairy tale wedding, however,  includes more than just the dress.  The ideas below will jump start your preparation for your perfect fairy tale wedding theme.

The Dress
During an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Kristie described what she thinks each Disney princess should wear.

  • Cinderella is “classic glamour” — the dresses in her line come in high-shine satin with ball-gown skirts and make generous use of silver embroidery and crystals.
  • Snow White has a slightly more conservative look dubbed “sweet elegance.”
  • Ariel, who played the title role in “The Little Mermaid,” has a “sultry allure” and is “comfortable showing her body.”
  • Jasmine, from “Aladdin,” is “bohemian chic,” and her various dresses are big on sheath and lace.”

Yes, the Disney bridal gowns are pricey (between $1,100 and $3,500 US dollars), but you can find wedding gowns using the descriptions above as guide in more reasonably priced bridal stores.  To complete the attire, don’t forget a sparkling tiara!

The Invitations
Look for invitations with a castle or carriage watermark, or design your invitations to look like a scroll.  Use broad, flowing calligraphy and word the invitation accordingly. Use words like “storybook”, “princess”, “fairy tale”, and “happily ever after”.

The Ceremony
Bring the magic of a fairytale dream to your big day with an elegant fairy tale bridal collection that includes a guest book with pen and pen base plus a matching square ring pillow. Each piece is fashioned with classic floral and vine applique.

The Reception
Decorate your reception with frosted glass votive, white Christmas lights, and elegant floor-length tablecloths. You can find many options for creative themed place card holders shaped like castles, carriages or glass slippers. Set the mood with classical music. You can even roll out a royal red carpet for your grand entrance.

The Favors
For your wedding favors, you can find candles or small picture frames in whimsical shapes.  Look for anything featuring a castle, carriage, scroll, or glass slipper.

The Transportation
If it’s available in the venue you’ve chosen, hire a horse drawn carriage in place of a limo to take you to the reception. If your wedding is outdoors, consider arriving for the ceremony in a carriage as well.

There you have it - ideas for a fairy tale wedding theme.  Have fun putting your dream wedding together…
