Dazzling Dangles for Your Bridesmaids
April 30, 2009
Your wedding planning is coming together. You’ve chosen your wedding date, the ceremony, reception, flowers, your gown … almost everything is set. Now it is time to think about what to give your bridesmaids for willingly and happily agreeing to take part in your wedding. There are several options to choose from – from the luxurious day in a spa to home made cookies. It does not matter how much you spend. It is always the thought that counts. The gift should be meaningful – something that is unique that will serve as a token of your appreciation for being there for you and for your continued friendship.
DIY- Scented Bath Salt Wedding Favors
April 6, 2009
We all know that in this economic times, a sensible bride will be looking for ways to cut wedding costs while planning her dream wedding. One of the ways to cut cost is to make your own “stuff”. One of the easiest “stuff” to make is your do-it-yourself scented bath salt wedding favors. All you need, aside from the ingredients, are air-tight plastic or glass jars and ribbons to complete your wedding favors.
Here are the ingredients:
2 1/2 cups sea salt (do not use table salt; this will dry your skin)
1 cup baking soda (Arm & Hammer baking soda will do well)
1/2 cup citric acid
1 tbs fragrance oil (cosmetic grade; do not use fragrance oils used for candles)
Colorant: Use mica colors of your choice. In the video, Mary used two colors. The first one is a combination of 1/4 tsp each of FDA F&C mica yellow and matte red. 1/2 tsp of FDA F&C mica yellow is used for the second color.
Vintage Victorian Wedding Theme
April 1, 2009
What comes to your mind when you hear the words “vintage weddding”? Does it bring images of you wearing your mother or grandmother’s wedding dress? Or does it conjure images of even more distant past – like the Victorian era? Either way, you are thinking of “vintage”. Having a vintage theme in your wedding means celebrating your memorable day in a simulated era of some 20 years or more ago.
My favorite vintage theme is Victorian. There are so many Victorian wedding traditions that we still practice today. Remember the rhyme, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…”? Yes, thats one of the Victorian traditions that we still practice today. The “old” must be something that belonged to a happily married woman. It is believed that the happiness and luck of the owner will transfer to the new bride. The “new” is the bride’s bridal attire from the gown to the shoes. The “borrowed” is something precious like gold or diamond jewelry to ensure wealth and fortune in the bride’s future. The “blue” is a symbol of true love.
White wedding gowns became popular in the late eighteenth century and it is still the favorite gown color today. However, if you want a non-white wedding gown, you can choice almost any color except black and red, which during the Victorian era supposed to be symbols of devilry or witchcraft.
